Piano poetry
Andreas Ulvo - SOLO
Andreas Ulvo (b.1983) has despite his young age performed and toured all over the world with both his own projects, but also as a sideman in different constellations. He has worked with a wide range of bands and artists, such as Mathias Eick Quintet, Frøy Aagre, Karl Seglem, Thom Hell, Jarle Bernhoft, Eple Trio and many more. He has contributed on over 20 records and has also recorded three records in his own name. Eyal Hareuveni (All about jazz) wrote this in the review of the record "The sound of rain needs no translation": "This recording has an elusive wabi-sabi quality, of an imperfect, fleeting beauty that no words can portray its simple, innocent essence. But still, it is such a beauty that is so vivid and breathtaking."
Linernote for "Light & loneliness":
"Sometimes it feels natural to take a step back. After doing several recordings in studios with large grand pianos I felt the time was right to go back to the place it all started, to the house where I grew up, to the old Grotrian-Steinweg piano on which I learned to play. Maybe that is why the music on this record is simpler, more poetic than much of my earlier work. This record was made during two days in May, and if you listen closely you may hear the birds sing and the sound of rain against the window."
